awkward i op Tender Records
Rock Stars verschijnt op
Record Store Day
awkward i.
gospelzanger Washington Phillips.
Venlo (Sounds 12.00)
Arnhem (Kroese 15.30)
Amsterdam (De Roode Bioscoop 19.00).

awkward i in the theatre
Just in case, you did not yet know, awkward i's Djurre is performing in the theatre play "Alleen op de Wereld". And now, after months of rehearsing with Theatergroep Maas en Dans and doing things Djurre has never done before on stage, it's finally time for the premiere. Today, Sunday 19 January 2014 at 14:30 at the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, you will be able to see the results. Not only did Djurre write some new songs for this play, he is also performing them live on stage together with Vincent van Warmerdam, making his co-operation with Theatergroep Maas en Dans a completely new " awkward i-stage-experience". More about Djurre's experiences with "Alleen op de Wereld" you can read here, in his interview with the daily newspaper De Telegraaf . More information on "Alleen op de Wereld" can be found here, including the tour dates. And just have a look at the "Alleen op de Wereld"-crew, you simply need to see them performing live on stage…. awkward i in action - a brief update on current projects
The days are getting shorter, the nights are breaking even earlier, the silent night is approaching; the perfect moment for letting a brief awkward i- update to shine on you in chronological order…
As for tonight, 14 November 2013, a little secret will be revealed as Djurre will play his own personal guilty pleasure on national Dutch TV-show "De Wereld Draait Door". From 19:25 you can enjoy awkward i's guilty pleasure on NED3 or watch it on this live-stream…
As for tomorrow, 15 November 2013, Djurre will do a guest-appearance during the album presentation of MEITJE in Melkweg in Amsterdam. This performance is the result of the little co-operation between awkward i and the ex-frontman of Wooden Constructions Gover Meitje. And here is a little pre-taste of how it will sound like...
As for the january till april 2014, Djurre is currently busy re-hearsing with the theatre/dancegroep Maas Theater en Dans for the play "Alleen op de wereld", where he will be performing and playing. It's the first time awkward i is involved in a theatre-play, meaning Djurre is doing things, he has never done before. "Alleen op de wereld" will be touring form 18-01 till 21-04-2014 through the Netherlands. So if you fancy watching a completely new side of awkward i, come and join them in one of the theaters… The complete "Alleen op de wereld" tour can be found here…
As for the following days, months and years we will keep you updated....

awkward i is nominated for a Gouden Kalf
The Nederlands Film Festival has chosen the soundtrack of The Deflowering of Eva van End to be worthy a Gouden Kalf…
On Friday 4 October at 20:55 we will know if Djurre has won… The award-ceremony will be broadcasted on Ned 2, www.filmfestival.nl and Cultura24, so tune in and share the excitement….

Kom dus vanaf 20.30 uur langs! Meer info hier.

A new song - a new video
Well, actually
we could spend an endless amount of words telling you about the road we walk
and the story behind this new song and why and how Djurre wrote it. And something about a painting in a museum and how we played
it at the Parade and how suddenly whilst playing this song something happened
to Djurre’s voice and Susanne her violin and
how Diederik went crazy on the guitar…
These are
the stories that could be told and will be told…
To be
honest, the only thing you should do is listen to this new song and watch the
brand new video Amsterdam
Acoustics recorded of this brand new awkward i song. Enjoy!

"There is no friend as loyal as a book"
And yesterday a journey ended at Paradiso in Amsterdam; the final show of Djurre's tour with Bettie Serveert… With the memories of his adventures of nearly two months touring with the Betties through the Netherlands, he will be heading for Nijmegen today. A Nijmegen sizzling of whispers, words, poems, sentences, poetry and music. A city filled with literature like you can only find it during the one and only "Boekenfeest"…
And like Hemingway used to say:
"Today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today…"
